乙卯吴兴寒食

龙头舴艋[1]吴儿竞，
笋柱[2]秋千游女并[3]。
芳洲拾翠暮忘归，
秀野踏青来不定。
行云[4]去后遥山暝，
已放[5]笙歌池院静。
中庭月色正清明，
无数杨花过无影。
[1]舴艋：像蚱蜢一样的小船。
[2]笋柱：用竹竿做的秋千架。
[3]并：并排。
[4]行云：这里指女子。
[5]放：终止。

Zhang Xian
The Southerners in dragon-boats contest in speed,
Fair maidens on the bamboo seat swing to and fro.
And picking flowers, the women linger in the mead;
Treading the green afield, townspeople come and go.
The floating clouds blown off, dim is the distant hill
Flute-songs are hushed, deserted gardens quiet.
Steeped in pure moonlight, the middle court is still;
Without a shadow, the willow-downs run riot.
Zhang Xian (990—1078) was a statesman-poet well known for his verse “The moon breaks through the clouds, with shadows flowers play.” This poem written on Cold Food Day in 1075 depicts the beautiful spring scenes and the tranquil night scene of the Southern land.
