绿蓑衣[2]紫罗袍[3]谁是主？
两件儿都无济。
便作钓鱼人，
也在风波里。
则不如寻个稳便处闲坐地。
注释：
[1]清江引：曲调名，又名“江水儿”。
[2]绿蓑衣：比喻渔人或隐士。
[3]紫罗袍：比喻入仕做官。

Green straw cloak and violet silken gown,
Which is up? Which is down?
Neither will do. Even a fisherman
Should avoid perilous waves if he can.
I’d seek a safe place as I please
To sit with ease.

林泉隐居谁到此？
有客清风至[1]。
会作山中相[2]，
不管人间事。
争什么半张名利纸？
注释：
[1]有客清风至：唯有清风似客来。
[2]山中相：南朝陶景弘起初任齐朝将军，齐亡之后，他隐居茅山不愿出仕。梁武帝每有国家大事，无不去信请教，时人称陶景弘为“山中宰相”。后人常常以“山中宰相”比喻隐士。

Who’d come to my hermitage amid the trees?
My only guest is the fresh breeze.
Living by the fountain,
I’m minister in the mountain.
I do not care for worldly affair.
Why should I strive to enter the vanity fair?
