冉冉孤生竹，结根泰山阿[2]。
与君为新婚，菟丝附女萝[3]。
菟丝生有时，夫妇会有宜[4]。
千里远结婚，悠悠隔山陂。
思君令人老，轩车来何迟！
伤彼蕙兰花，含英[5]扬光辉；
过时而不采，将随秋草萎。
君亮执高节[6]，贱妾亦何为！
注释：
[1] 冉冉：柔弱下垂的样子。
[2] 泰山阿：大山里面曲折之处。
[3] 菟丝：柔弱蔓生植物。女萝：地衣类植物。这里以“菟丝”自比，以“女萝”比丈夫，两句的意思是说自己虽已结婚，但新婚远别，仍然是孤独而无依靠。
[4] 宜：适当的时候。
[5] 含英：即将盛开的花朵。
[6] 高节：指坚贞不渝的爱情。

Frail, frail the lonely bamboo’s root
Clinging to lofty mountain’s foot.
I’m newly wed to husband mine
Like dodder clinging to the vine.
The dodder has its time to grow;
A couple should together go.
But thousand-mile mountains divide
The newly-wed one on each side.
Longing for him makes me grow old.
Why won’t his cab come to household?
I grieve for orchid flower white;
Petals unfurled, it looks so bright.
If it’s not plucked in blossom time,
It fades with grass after its prime.
In his consistence I believe.
What can I do? Why should I grieve?
