Tune: Intoxicated in East Wind
Anonymous
(I)
Songstress’ throat tender
And dancer’s waist slender
Are ready for flowers in the light of the moon.
I regret spring has passed too soon.
Let it not to swallows and orioles be known
That two-thirds of spring have gone away.
It’s better to be drunk before flowers by day.
(II)
I’d wear my patched coat when the sun is high;
Your official hat is not cold-proof at midnight.
I’d till my field with my buffalo under the sky,
You might ride your steed neighing in moonlight.
I would toil hard and envy none who shine;
You might on blood-stained ground put up a fight.
I would lie drunk by the side of my jar of wine.
