Where is my lutist bright?
Grass grows again in spring,
But dust covers the lute’s string,
The parting grief embodied in willow leaves,
She wipes her tears away with lotus sleeves.
My soul can only croon in the mume bower white,
The cloud-veiled Southern mountains lost to sight.
