西陵[1]送别

画船儿载不起离愁，
人到西陵，
恨满东州。
懒上归鞍，
慵开泪眼，
怕倚层楼。
春去春来，
管送别依依岸柳；
潮生潮落，
会忘机[2]泛泛沙鸥。
烟水悠悠，
有句相酬，
无计相留。
注释：
[1]西陵：应是浙江萧山之西的西兴镇，古称西陵。
[2]机：心机，坏心眼。

Farewell at the West Ferry

Our parting grief outweighs your painted boat.
I’m still at Ferry West,
Your sorrow eastward flows.
On my steed I won’t ride,
Nor open tearful eyes.
I fear to lean on rails of tower high.
Spring comes and goes,
The willow trees by riverside
Are grieved to say goodbye.
The tide may fall and rise,
The heartless gulls still float.
The mist-veiled water runs without rest.
I can write verse for you,
But how could we not say adieu?
