雁啼明月中，
人在青山外。
独上危楼[2]愁无奈，
起西风一片离怀。
白衣[3]未来，
东篱好在，
黄菊先开[4]。

[2]危楼：高楼。
[3]白衣：指白衣飘飘的友人。
[4]东篱、黄菊：有晋代陶渊明《饮酒》中“采菊东篱下”的意境。

Love poems show anew
The debt I owe you.
On flowery paper with ivory pen I write,
With golden hairpin and jewel case in sight.
Wild geese cry past the full moon bright,
But you are beyond the mountains blue.
What with my parting grief can I do?
Up the tower I go.
The west wind cannot blow my grief away.
Will the white-gowned messenger come today?
I have at least the hedge in the east
Where yellow chrysanthems will blow.
