帕布莉卡《小雅·菀柳》是中国古代第一部诗歌总集《诗经》中的一首诗。这是揭露王者暴虐无常，诸侯皆不敢朝见的诗歌。全诗共分三章，每章六句。前两章用比拟句在反复咏叹中传达诗人强烈的愤懑之情，第三章从反问的角度继续深化。此诗善用比兴，比喻贴切。
菀[1]柳
有菀者柳，
不尚息焉。
上帝甚蹈[2]。
无自暱焉。
俾予靖[3]之，
后予极[4]焉！
有菀者柳，
不尚愒[5]焉。
上帝甚蹈，
无自瘵[6]焉。
俾予靖之，
后予迈[7]焉！
有鸟高飞，
亦傅[8]于天。
彼人之心，
于何其臻？
曷予靖之，
居以凶矜[9]！
路边柳树枝叶盛，
还是不可去休息。
上天喜怒太无常。
无故不要亲近他。
先前让我治邦国，
后来又要诛杀我！

The Unjust Lord[1]
Lush is the willow tree.
Who won’t rest under it?
The lord’s to punish free.
Don’t fall into the pit.
You lend him hand and arm,
But he will do you harm.

The lord’s to punish free;
His ire bursts in a fit.
You lend him arm and hand;
He’ll ban you from the land.
The bird flies as it can
Even up to the sky.
The heart of such a man
Will go up far and high.
Whate’er for him you do,
He’s free to punish you.
