绿兮衣[1]兮，

My upper robe is green;
Yellow my lower dress
My sorrow is so keen;
When will end my distress?

The silk is green that you,
Old mate, dyed all night long;
I miss you, old mate, who
Kept me from doing wrong.
The linen coarse or fine
Is cold when blows the breeze.
I miss old mate of mine,
Who put my mind at ease.
[1]This was the first elegy in which a widower missed his deceased wife who had made the green robe and yellow dress for him.
