匏有苦叶，
济有深涉。
深则厉[2]，
浅则揭[3]。
有弥济盈，
有[4]雉鸣。
济盈不濡轨，
雉鸣求其牡。
雍雍[5]鸣雁，
旭日始旦。
士如归妻，
迨冰未泮[6]。
招招舟子，
人涉卬[7]否。
人涉卬否，
卬须我友。
葫芦叶子枯萎，
济水深处也能渡。
水深漫着衣裳行，
水浅提起衣裳过。
茫茫白水济河满，
野鸡吆吆声不断。
水满不过半轮高，
雌鸡把那雄鸡叫。
雁鸣声声真相和，
初升太阳照济河。
你若有心来娶我，
莫等封冰早过河。
船夫揺揺把船摆，
别人过河我等待。
别人过河我等待，
等个人儿过河来。

Waiting for Her Fiance[1]
The gourd has leaves which fade;
The stream’s too deep to wade.
If shallow leap
And strip if deep!
See the stream’s water rise;
Hear female pheasant’s cries.
The stream wets not the axle straight;
The pheasant’s calling for her mate.
Hear the song of wild geese;
See the sun rise in glee.
Come before the streams freeze
If you will marry me.
I see the boatman row
Across but I will wait;
With others I won’t go:
I will wait for my mate.
