活动的环圈控制骖马，
革带穿铜环使骖马就范。
虎皮垫铺在长毂车上，
驾车的青马后腿白色。
我想念那君子人啊，
温和得像玉一样。
他从军住在板木屋，
想他想得我心里乱。
四匹雄马真肥大，
六根缰绳拿在手。
两匹赤身黑鬣的服马在中间，
两匹黄身黑嘴的骖马在两边。
画龙的盾牌双双合在车前面，
银环把骖马的内缰绳来串联。
我想念的那君子人啊，
温和在邑可以为友。
什么时候才能回来啊，
叫我怎么不想他啊。
薄金甲的四匹马多威风，
三隅矛杆下装着白银镦。
盾牌上画着鸟羽纹，
刻金的虎皮弓囊雕刻纹。
两弓交错在弓囊中，
竹制弓檠绳索捆。
我想念那君子人啊，
早起晚睡不安宁。
那温良文静的人啊，
明慧有礼贤德行。

A Lord on Expedition[1]
His chariot finely bound,
Crisscrossed with straps around,
Covered with tiger’s skin,
Driven by horses twin;
His steeds controlled with reins
Through slip rings like gilt chains;
I think of my lord dear
Far-of on the frontier;
He’s pure as jade and plain.
O my heart throbs with pain.
His four fine steeds there stand;
He holds six reins in hand.
The insides have black mane,
Yellow the outside twain.
Dragon shields on two wings,
Buckled up as with strings.
I think of my lord dear
So good on the frontier.
When will he come to me?
Can I be yearning-free?
How fine his team appears!
How bright his trident spears!
His shield bears a carved face;
In tiger’s skin bow-case
With bamboo frames and bound
With strings, two bows are found.
I think of my dear mate,
Rise early and sleep late.
My dear, dear one,
Can I forget the good you’ve done?
