胡为乎株林？
从夏南[2]！
匪适株林，
从夏南！
驾我乘马，
说于株野。

朝食于株。
为什么去株林？
去找夏南！
其实不是去株林，
是为了找夏南！
骑上我的大马，
在株林停下。

赶到株林食早饭。

[2] 夏南：夏姬的儿子。表面上说是看夏南，其实是看夏姬。

[1]with the beautiful Lady Xia. The duke went to the wood in the countryside to tryst with her under the pretext of visiting her son Xia Nan, by whom he was killed in 598 B. C.b It was said that this song described the bewitching Lady Xia mourning over the death of Duke Ling of Chen and her son Xia Nan killed by King Zhuang of Chu in 598 B. C. (See Poem“The Duke’s Mistress”).
